Apr 15, 2019 When a mac user maps the drive via Finder while on VPN, the drive disappears when they reboot or disconnect from the VPN. I've tried adding the drive as a login item, but that doesn't work. That could be because the drive connection depends on the VPN connection. I'm not that well versed with Macs, so if anyone has any advice, that would be great! Using this method your network drive will be connected and mounted for one time use, which means that it will disappear if you disconnect from network or simply reboot your Mac. First open Mac u0010OS Finder app, that press Command and K buttons to launch Connect to Server window.
Sep 20, 2010 Locate the network drive you previously mounted and click “Add” Exit out of System Preferences; Your network drive will now be mapped and automatically remounted when you reboot your Mac.
Hi all,
i created a mapping in my iMac pointing to a folder on my notebook with windows.
When I start Parallels to run a Windows VM and my notebook is not connected to the lan, the system stays popping up a message saying 'The connection fails, maybe the server Notebook doesn't exists or blablabla..'.
I would like to know how to remove this mapping because it doesn't appear on my Mac Desktop if my notebbok is connected to the lan, but when using Parallels, is almost impossible to work with the message popping up all the time.
TIA,
Alano.

I have found the apparent source of the problem. Seemingly, having “Enable Power Nap” selected in the Energy Saver settings was forcing the network drives to dismount. I disabled that setting two days ago, and the network backups have properly worked the past two nights; the network drives also remain mounted as I can see when I come into the office in the morning. This behavior is counterintuitive given that the entire point of a Power Nap is to permit the computer to perform network based operations as per Apple’s own words: Transferring mac os x to new hard drive.

Yet, this very same feature causes network drives to dismount once the Mac goes to sleep. ? As I stated in the original post, this appears to be a longstanding problem that needs to be corrected in macOS, as many Mac users, particularly those in work environments, need to connect to servers, NAS, etc. Install mac os x 10.4 on external hard drive windows 10. that are not set up with Mac-centric protocols.
